Computer Systems

Computer systems are complex and require a team of experts–each with a different task–to keep them running efficiently.

Computer system analysts are the people who study a computer system and design solutions that will help the system to run more effectively and efficiently. They work in a variety of business and industry, including computer systems design, finance and insurance and the government.

The majority of those working as computer analysts possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field. However, because management aspects also can be involved with some positions, a master’s degree may be required for certain jobs within the industry.

Demand for trained computer systems personnel is expected to grow by 25 percent, which is higher than the average rate of growth for other business and industry. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average annual salary for those employed in this industry is $79,680.
